SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, which is used to validate whether an e-mail message was sent by a licensed server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain will stop the forging of email addresses made with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this function for a domain name generates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP addresses of the servers that are allowed to send e-mails from mailboxes using the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it will exist on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Every time a new email message is sent, the first DNS server it uses checks if it originates from an official server. In the event it does, it's sent to the destination address, yet if it does not originate from a server part of the SPF record for the particular domain, it's rejected. In this way nobody can mask an email address then make it appear as if you are sending spam messages. This method is also identified as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain name hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a few mouse-clicks. The feature can be found in the Emails section of our hi-tech Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to use it is to pick one of your domain names from the drop-down menu and then type in the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers that will be authorized to send messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you can even restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain only if it includes our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the email addresses for it, not a third-party supplier. This feature offers you the top level of safety, but it's not applicable in case only your web site is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are handled in a different place. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your emails protected from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection attribute comes with all semi-dedicated servers, so if you host your domains in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you can activate the service effortlessly for all your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a really intuitive interface, therefore you will not have to be proficient in the use of computers to secure your email addresses. You'll only have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be allowed to send out emails from your addresses and right after that the new record will be activated for the domain name that you've selected. As an additional option, we also give you the ability to control your outgoing e-mail messages and secure your mailboxes even better by allowing email messages to be sent only when the domain in question contains our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name have to be taken care of on our end and not by another company. By doing so you'll have even better control and there will not be any chances for any person to counterfeit your emails for malicious objectives.
